A serious and often fatal dog disease is spreading across the UK with many dogs being infected in the UK including in Trafford and around the Warrington area.
If left untreated Lungworm could kill your dog, Problems associated with lungworm for dogs can include: coughing, changes in breathing or struggling to breathe, going off food, upset stomach with vomiting and/or diarrhoea, weight loss, tiredness, unexplained or excessive bruising, pale gums and bleeding.
Lungworm is a parasite that can be spread in the environment in many ways.
Infected dogs and foxes can spread the disease with lungworm larvae being present in the animals, if the dog eats its own or other dogs poop that is one way of spreading the disease, if your dog eats slugs and snails this could also spread the disease.
We suggest for your dog to be treated as soon as possible with worming treatments and by picking up dog poop as soon as possible and keep slugs and snails away from your house.
Note this lungworm disease does not spread from animal to human.
