Stretford town centre will soon be transformed into a greener and safer environment.
Trafford Council has appointed contractor AE Yates to deliver a number of major public realm improvements in the town centre.
The works, which are expected to start on May 27, 2023, will make the town centre a safer and better place to be for all residents.
Trafford Council is also looking to make the Kingsway and Barton Road junction safer and greener as part of its transformation of the area.
Plans include new crossing points, cycle lanes, footpaths, trees and more green spaces. The Kingsway carriageway is also being re-designed to help reduce speeds and make more space for cyclists and pedestrians.
Disruption to all road users and pedestrians is expected while the work takes place to carry out the improvements and this will be managed by advance notification and signage.
Cllr Liz Patel, Trafford Council’s Executive Member for Economy, and Regeneration, said: “Stretford town centre is being transformed into a great place for residents, shoppers, and businesses. These new designs will make the experience safer and more enjoyable for pedestrians and cyclists and complement the redevelopment of Stretford Mall. This is an exciting time for Stretford.”
The works which are expected to be completed by September 2024.
