If you were out and about in Altrincham last Saturday, you may have noticed that the town was awash with Manchester City football shirts in anticipation of the Champions League Final, that evening.

Following the club’s historic win and the incredible scenes of jubilation from Man City fans across Manchester and beyond, Altrincham-based decorative homeware and lifestyle brand, The Sculpts are celebrating the Treble victory, by creating a special commemorative ceramic tile.

Illustrated by City fan and The Sculpts founder, architect Richard Bennett, each 6 x 6 inches tile features the three trophies won this season, which matches United’s 1999 Treble win and makes them only the second English club to achieve the feat. The tile goes on sale later this week, just in time for Father’s Day.

Richard says: “We just couldn’t let this historic moment pass without celebrating it. It’s a fantastic success for Manchester City, but also for the whole city. Only two English clubs have ever won the treble and they’re both from Manchester – that’s quite an achievement!”

The Treble tile, with a ‘C’ for City, sits alongside The Sculpts’ collection of illustrated, handmade ‘Manchester’ tiles, one for each letter of the city’s name, with each 6in by 6in tile depicting a different stage in Manchester’s transformation – from post-industrial depression to a technological and cultural force to be reckoned with.

Brainchild of illustrator and architect Richard Bennett, The Sculpts was founded in 2020. What began as a handful of illustrative tile designs quickly turned into a distinctive range of beautiful drawings brought to life. In the last two years, Richard and his partner Jade King have grown their range of products, taking the distinctive designs into homewares, prints

and textiles. There have also been several artistic collaborations with partners including, Manchester Museum, The Whitworth Art Gallery and Stock Hotel in Manchester.

The Treble tile will be available online at thesculpts.com or from The Sculpts stall at Altrincham Market from Friday 16th June and is priced at £29.50.
