With the warmer weather continuing and things to get even warmer as we head into July, Information is being given to help motorists remember that dogs die in hot cars.
Some motorists may think that is fine to keep the pooch in the car with the window open are parked up in the shade however that is not the case, RSPCA state that even at 20c a car can heat up to a whopping 47c which is really dangerous for a dog.
If you also see a dog in a car you must ring 999 if they are showing signs of heatstroke, they will come fast as they can, however if things take a turn for the worse you might think of breaking the window of the car.
Although understandable you will be liable for damages and could even be charged for criminal damage, however if you really need to free the animal RSPCA says tell the police what you are going to do, take pictures, get witness details before you smash a car window.
In last years severe heat when the temperature went over 100 degrees dogs were seen with the owner, the ground was almost melting, although the dog just wants to go out their paws will be in a bad state, do not walk your dog on paths in the heat, take them on the grass for walkies only or walk them in the early morning or in the evening when things are cooler.
