GMP appeal for witnesses following a serious assault in (Davyhulme) Urmston

Officers received a call from colleagues at NWAS at 5.15pm on Monday 19 June 2023, to reports a man who had sustained stab wounds.

He was taken to hospital for surgery and his condition is described as critical but stable.

A 42-year-old man was detained a short time later and has now been eliminated from police enquires

Newly released images show a male dressed in dark clothing and a white surgical mask. The hoody displays a distinctive pattern, and he was carrying a Nike branded bag.

Police are now appealing for anyone who may recognise him or his clothing to get in touch.

Detective Inspector Paul Costello of Trafford CID said: “This was a violent, unprovoked and frenzied attack which has left a young man with extremely serious injuries. Our investigations are continuing and are gathering pace.

“CCTV footage has captured the suspect leaving the scene and the images that we have released today show his distinctive appearance. We are sure there is someone who will be able to identify him.
