Keep switched on! as people are being robbed more frequently on Canal tow path in Sale

Police have already alerted people to the issues on Bridgewater Canal tow path in Sale where they report an increase in personal robberies.

We have spoken to several people including those that use the Walton Park Sports Centre and another business owner about the issues and everyone told us that their was a big increase in crime on the canal tow path lately.

The Walton Park Sports Centre has also been subject to robbery although we are told the gym was not affected, a business owner who has no connections with the sports centre told us that he had seen more police in the area and confirmed that he had seen kids causing issues.

Drugs and boredom has been mostly mentioned as the reason for the issues.

We suggest to always keep tuned in to your environment at all times, never switch off! by doing this you can see things happening and then easy to avoid by either turning back or diverting.

Sadly many of these young people are equipped with a knife and mostly would threaten people with one rather than use it however one or two actually go on to use it which could end up horrific, it’s not worth it to argue or to feel like you could take them on this would be a stupid tactic since they know even if they tried to kill you, you! attacked and hurt them and so it would be you in trouble not the individual with a knife.

The law needs to be changed so the adult has the upper hand and not as it is today although in a responsible way, Police are stretched to the limit, any new officers are just replacing those that are either retiring or leaving! with that in mind it is vital even more so to get learning to protect yourself and the best way is to “Keep switched on”
