Crimean-Congo Haemorrhagic Fever cases are on the rise in Europe and scientists are now suggesting that its only time before we start seeing cases here in the UK.
The fever is spread from ticks which also causes Lyme disease, ticks are found mostly on Squirrels, Fox, Sheep and some species of birds.
Crimean-Congo Haemorrhagic Fever is a serious disease with a high fatality rate and no vaccines are available not that anyone would ever take one after the Covid scandal, however it won’t be the next pandemic as you can easily stop a tick with simple measures such as:
- Not exposing the skin
- Avoid wooded areas
- Wear repellent
- Stay a good distance from Squirrels and foxes
- Feed birds from a distance although Seagulls are believed not to carry ticks
- Stay away from sheep

If you find a tick on you get the thing off your skin immediately, the issues are though ticks that bite you have already done it before you realise in this case clean the area up and ring 111 for further information and to confirm it was a tick bite.
It could be that all Squirrels will be killed along with the common fox that are in many towns and cities in the UK since they are closest to humans.
Trafford Council has already increased its budget for extermination firms to kill squirrels which they call vermin.
To be clear it has not arrived to the UK at the time of publishing, when it does it is expected authorities will push out further advice on what people should do.
