Elderly man dies after a serious incident at a property in Timperley

An elderly man has died in hospital following an incident on Riddings Road in Timperley during Sunday afternoon.

Police and ambulance service attended the property at approximately 2.30pm and found the 80-year-old man needing hospital treatment sadly he was pronounced dead a short time later.

A man aged 50 was arrested and is in custody and will now face a murder charge.

At this time Police are still investigating the full circumstances of what happened and once completed a full statement will be released.

Detective Inspector Lee Shaw from GMP’s Major Incident Team said: “Our thoughts remain with the family of the man who has sadly died.

“Our Family Liaison Officers continue to liaise with them and ensure they are fully updated.

“We have launched an investigation to piece together the full circumstances surrounding his death.

“I have no doubt that the community are shocked and are worried to hear the news about the death of the man, but I would like to reassure them this is an isolated incident and at this stage, we are not currently looking for anyone else.”
