A path that goes over a disused rail line could be soon be blocked in Broadheath.

We got information by a reliable political source that Network Rail who owns the entire rail line from Skelton Junction in Timperley all the way to Cadishead has mentioned that they are looking at stopping people trespassing and are to put fencing up to stop people from walking on their property.

The path goes by the side of a school on Sinderland Road and to the other side Broadheath Community Centre, this path goes over the rail line and then out towards another path that goes to Turnbull Road.

If the plans do get the thumbs up we are told that Trafford Labour will oppose the plans as the 20 metre bit of land people cross over has been used for many years and helps all residents connect to the other side without having to go over the bridge near Waitrose.

Disabled and the elderly will also have no options but to go over the bridge both ways which is not fair on them.

It is also expected Trafford Tories will oppose the plans.

For people wanting to explore the rail line walking through dense wooded areas with all types of vegetation some of which could be dangerous if touched such as Japanese Knotweed which causes blisters to form on the skin and burns if exposed to the sunlight.

The Cheshire Lines rail line was once used for passengers then later was used for freight and sadly all services stopped and for decades has been doing nothing when all will agree it could be doing something.

Network Rail has been contacted for comment.
