A male who died in the early hours of 23 July 2023 on May Walk in Partington did not die from anything to do with his gas supply although at this time no one is ruling out Carbon monoxide poisoning which can kill.
We believe some residents around his property were evacuated before Cadent gave the all clear.
The speculation as to how he died will remain until we have the full facts of what happened to this individual during the early hours of Sunday morning, however we do have a statement from an official source which you can read below.
A spokesperson for Cadent said: “We supported the multi-agency response to the incident in May Walk, as the gas emergency service for the area.
“We made sure everything associated with our gas network was safe.
“We’ve carried out a thorough check of the gas mains and service pipes in the area and we can confirm they are sound and did not cause or contribute to this incident.
“We now leave the scene in the hands of the lead agencies, as they continue their work to establish what happened.
“Cadent provides a 24-hour, 365-day gas emergency response service. If you ever smell gas, call the national gas emergency service, immediately, on 0800 111 999, day or night. All calls are recorded and may be monitored.”
A full investigation is currently on-going to establish the reason why the individual died and a full statement by Greater Manchester Police will be made soon and we will update this article when we have the statement to hand.
