Partington Post Office on Hall Lane will temporarily close on 16 Aug at 12.30pm as the postmaster retired leaving the community with nothing.

Trafford Council are very concerned about the loss of the post office saying “The closure affects everyone in Partington but hits our elderly and vulnerable residents in particular.

“We are in contact with the Post Office about this It’s vital that the closure is for as short a period as possible and the Partington community can have this vital service back.”

The Post Office have said they are working hard to keep the period of closure to a minimum and investigating options so they can reopen the Post Office again the local community however they have said any future must be sustainable.

The Post Office has been up for sale for a long time and did gain interest from some people however nothing came of it and so forced the postmaster to resign.

This closure will affect just about everyone but more so as Trafford Council have rightly said the elderly and vulnerable.

In a statement from The Post Office

“We are writing to inform you that, regrettably, following the resignation of the postmaster and the
withdrawal of the premises for Post Office use, the above branch will close on Wednesday 16 August
2023 at 12:30.

“I would like to assure you that we are working hard to keep any period of closure to a minimum and
we are currently investigating the options available which will enable us to reinstate a Post Office
service to the local community. In exploring this, it is important that any future service is sustainable for the person operating the service, and for Post Office Limited.”
