Dangerous dogs are back on the agenda with the Government looking to ban yet another dog after reports of more attacks in the Birmingham area.
The XL bully dog could be next to be banned although according to an expert in dog behaviour said that the American XL Bully dog is not even a breed so would be hard to be placed on the banned dogs breed.
Whilst this type of dog is really big and strong and could pose a danger to the general public, the main reason it attacks is because of who owns the so called ‘Dangerous Dog’ some owners train the dog to be nasty to other people by treating the animal wrong.
Bringing it up by making it scrap other dogs, always being aggressive, keeping it in the back yard for long periods and sometimes with no food is going to change its behaviour even to the owner! some owners let the dogs fight other dogs for their own sick entertainment.
The more this continues the more moody the animal will get, the more likely it will start attacking others and hurting them.
Whilst it is true some dogs could suddenly get grumpy and lash out, a dog who is well looked after will regret instantly what its done and back off and would normally not do anything like that again, it happens! but to blame the dog as is the case is completely wrong.
Although we do not know the full circumstances of the latest attacks we hope Suella Braverman will remember that 99.9% of so called dangerous dogs are only like that because of the owner and not to be shooting the animal dead when all it needs is the TLC it so rightly deserves.
An animal that has been badly treated though will take a while for it to be calm again, lots of behavioural therapy will be needed, no dog should ever be put down but every bad owner should be sent down and for a long time!
