Apple yesterday (12 September) revealed its new iPhone range for this year which got a mixed reaction.

We will look at the comparisons chart at what is different about the iPhone 15 compared to last years handsets and you can then decide for yourself if it is worth paying more for an upgrade or paying for the handset without a contract.

Starting with the smaller iPhone 15 and last years iPhone 14: https://www.gsmarena.com/compare.php3?&idPhone1=12559&idPhone2=11861

Display is improved from last years handset with 2000 nits peak from 1200 which means you will be able to see the screen better in sunlight.

CPU has improved to Hexa-core (2×3.46 GHz Everest + 4×2.02 GHz Sawtooth) from Hexa-core (2×3.23 GHz Avalanche + 4×1.82 GHz Blizzard)

The main camera is now 48 mega pixels and 12 megapixel ultrawide from last years 12 mega pixel main camera and a 12 mega pixel ultrawide lens.

Other than that we noted a slight increase in size of the iPhone 15 and just 1 gram lighter.

iPhone 15 pro max (2023) and iPhone 14 pro max (2022) can be found HERE

The iPhone 15 pro max is the most costly version of the range and has a better camera with 5x optical zoom instead of the 3x optical zoom on last years handset, the casing around the phone is made from titanium which has made the handset much lighter.

The display features a dynamic island and other features that Apple have invented to help with your daily tasks.

iPhone’s now have a type c USB connector rather than a lightning charge port although oddly no increase in battery or faster charging.

The cost of these new iPhone’s might be the talking point since other than a few improvements more so to the iPhone 15 we go along with many people who are saying that these iPhone’s are much the same as last years models apart from the titanium casing and a slight optical improvement to the main camera with the dynamic island which some are claiming is gimmicky.

Is it worth the upgrade or paying for it outright? in this supposed cost of living crisis? some may say are Apple out of touch with reality or is it a chance they are taking since Apple do not understand value for money or the word ‘Cheap’

Our opinion is simply whilst we like the look of all the iPhone’s and the idea of having a titanium casing on the Pro and Pro Max is great to keep things lighter, the vast improvement on the normal iPhone 15 from a 12 mega pixel, the Spatial Video is basically 3D which has never really worked well on any device it’s not really worth the upgrade or buying them outright.

The side mute button can now be used not only to silence that dreadful camera shutter sound but can now be used as a multi-function switch so if you wanted it to turn of your handset or to open up an application then that can be done.

iOS 17 is due to be released soon and should make things better for all iPhone’s starting from the iPhone XS upwards, those with iPhone 8 and 8 plus including the iPhone X will not get the new operating system and will be stuck on iOS 16.6.1

If you want any of the iPhone’s you can buy them from 22 September, we suggest to register your interest with your mobile phone network.
