Delivery robots will be seen in more areas in Trafford following successful roll out in Sale and Timperley.

The robots will now be rolled out in Urmston and Flixton along with Ashton on Mersey.

Trafford Council linked up with Coop and Starship to launch the service in March this year (2023) the roll out was a complete success for Coop and residents have taken to the robots very well.

The idea behind this scheme was meant to reduce car journeys although this has not happened, the robots have a limitation of 2 miles from base which is outside of a Coop, we are not aware of any reports of any robots being stolen or damaged.

All the robots have 12 cameras all around them and even a lidar camera to detect anyone that comes near it, according to Starship the cameras do not pick up anything else around it although using common sense they will obviously pick up everything around them, it is not known where the data is stored or if it is used by a third party.

The Robots are very useful for people who are unable to get to the shops and are fairly quick so its a very good thing and we believe more shops will want a delivery robot in the near future.
