Partington’s £18.3m levelling up bid is not enough for planned work as costs go over £20m

It will come to a shock to many people that the huge amount of money that Trafford Council won for Partington (£18.3m) is not enough for all that had been planned.

Through a freedom of Information request we can reveal that the costs are estimated to be £20.7m this could climb further which unless the council can find an extra £5m some of the things listed for the area will be shelved.

We expect though the refurbishment of the sports centre to go ahead and the trail around Cross Lane Park will be completed however other projects might have to take a back seat such as refurbishment of the changing rooms and a BMX pump track along with public realm and landscaping.

Potentially the Parish Council along with Cross Lane Park Group could manage some of the landscaping.

Through Freedom of Information we also asked for a costing of what has been planned which the council could not give us.

Knowing what has happened in the past! Partington residents deserve full transparency on how much things have cost and we will fight hard to get them this information.
