Former Manchester City player Francis Lee has died aged 79

Lee who made 330 appearances for City and scored 148 goals in his 8 year career with the club, he started his professional career at Bolton Wanderers and then went on to join Derby where he helped the club win the league in 1975.

His career at City though is where he was very successful winning the league, FA Cup, League cup and a European Cup Winners Cup, he also helped city to win two charity shield games.

Lee returned to city in 1994 as a chairman.

Franny as many people called him sadly passed away today (2 October 2023) after a long fight against cancer, his family has said: “He will be sorely missed and would like to thank everybody for their kind words.”

Manchester City on the website said: “Everyone at Manchester City would like to send their condolences to the friends and family of Francis at this very difficult time.”
