Suspicious package on a flight closed down Manchester Airport

Manchester Airport was closed for a time due to information Greater Manchester Police had that their was a suspicious package on board an Emirates flight at around 7.30pm tonight 17 October.

Emirates EK19 from Dubai landed safely at Manchester Airport and was seen parked up away from the terminal whilst a big convoy of emergency services waited but stood down once it was known no suspicious package was found.

It is thought GMP got some form of communication suggesting that a package was on board the aircraft and they and Manchester Airport took this seriously for safety which will have assured passengers despite the small delay.

Other aircraft had to do a go around whilst the Emirates aircraft was searched and made safe.
