Emergency services bring man to safety from Manchester Ship Canal in Trafford

A big emergency services response was activated during the early hours after reports of a concern for the welfare of a man seen on Irlam Road in Flixton.

The police helicopter was also out looking for the man.

A Greater Manchester Police spokesperson said: “On Saturday 28 October 2023 at around 2:40am, officers were called to reports of a concern for the welfare of a man on Irlam Road in Trafford.

“Officers attended the scene, and a male located a short time later at the Manchester Ship Canal where he was brought to safety by emergency services and remains in hospital with minor injuries.”
