With Adele New having to step down due to an illness a by-election was called with the vote taking place yesterday 2 November 2023.

The result was:
- Frances Cosby – Trafford Labour (794)
- Paul Lally – Conservatives (284)
- Paul Swansborough – Reform UK (82)
- Paulo Capucho – Green Party (80)
- Matthew Sellars – Lib Dems (36)
The total votes cast was 1,280 and the turn out was 17.5%
Bucklow st Martins now have three Trafford Labour councillors after this by-election despite the poor turnout the other candidates did a good job and shows that despite Bucklow st Martins being a very strong Labour ward that they should take the ward seriously and give the people a good candidate to offer something different.
We are aware that the MP Andrew Western was present giving Frances a bit of help, so what do we know about Frances well she came close to winning the last local elections coming second to Rob Duncan (Tories) in the Manor Ward.
Frances is not from Trafford but has been here for a couple of years, She studied Philosophy and Politics at The University of Manchester and has worked for Labour MP for Bury North.
She works for a strategic communications company which focuses with engaging in local communities.
We wish her well in her new role as a councillor and hope for the people of Partington and the ward of Bucklow st Martins that she does not want anymore huge housing developments being built and listens to the people unlike the others.
