Transparency must be at the heart of the £18.3m levelling up fund Partington won

With the consultations still continuing in Partington as to what you want to see happen with the £18.3m levelling up grant the area got recently.

Transparency on costing information has never been given to residents in the area whenever money has been given by way of donations or grants, you would simply get how much has been given and hope for the best.

We can reveal over £17m that was given by a firm in Carrington to three areas, Cadishead, Irlam and Partingon, simply! we asked for transparency on where Partington’s money went to and what was spent, we then found out Positive Partington got the money, they could not give us costing information and diverted us to the Parish Council who had no information.

Other things such as funding for Christmas Lights and to give the community centre was given a while back and Messenger did an article on the money award, we can tell you no new lights were given to the area and only a lick of paint for the community centre was seen and these were our own observations throughout the Christmas period.

lets be clear we are not saying anything dodgy has happened on anything we have mentioned what we are saying is simply where was the transparency?

Funding for the trim trail and other things for Cross Lane Park was given a long time ago but again no one has any costing information, and we know many residents did not even know about these plans!

The trail from Chapel Lane to Warburton Lane was another one where we needed costing information and no information was obtained, although an informed resident told us it cost £49m armed with that information we asked a construction worker and he told us that the trail would have not cost much more than £15m remembering this was before the madness of Covid and Ukraine war, things were much cheaper back then!

With Partington now having a Parish Council sort of working for the residents after years of trying to get them to open up! the area now have a big section of people working hard to make sure at the very least the biggest park in the area is clean and tidy and report things when needed, the heart of the community ‘Friends of Cross Lane Park’ doing great work for the area.

You have the back story on just some of the things that have happened behind the backs of people Partington, we have much more! however with forever positive vibes we hope the past issues are now being addressed and with this new ‘Levelling up’ funding which was greatly received will show costings and so let the people judge and have their say if something doesn’t add up.
