The Pogues front man Shane MacGowan has sadly died aged 65.
MacGowan and his band will be best remembered for the Christmas song ‘Fairytale of New York’ with Kirsty MaColl.

He was Married to journalist Victoria Mary Clarke who issued a statement on her own Instagram page saying “You will live in my heart forever Rave on in the garden all wet with rain that you loved so much you mean’t the world to me”
A statement on behalf of Shane MacGowan’s wife Victoria Mary Clarke, his sister Siobhan and father, Maurice from The Pogues website said:

MacGowan was born in Kent and was the son of Irish people, he was the lead singer of the Pogues from 1982 until the band went their separate ways in 2014.
The original name of the band was Pogue Mahone but was shortened to just ‘The Pogues’ they made seven albums and had several hit releases with the most notable being ;Fairytale of New York’ which got to number two in the charts.
The song will never be forgotten as its played every Christmas which will be a hot contender for the number one spot for Christmas.
MacGowan had health problems and struggled to recover from a fall in which he broke his hip, and recently suffered ill health but recovered and was looking forward to Christmas Day that happens to be his birthday, sadly he died today at his home, it has been reported he died from encephalitis which is swelling of the brain.
