Due to high winds this morning from Storm Pia a HGV has turned over on its side police closed the bridge and huge queues formed with traffic backing up a couple of miles both ways.

It is believed no one was injured.

The bridge is still closed at the time of publishing and your advised to divert another way using your sat nav as the queues will only get worse.

High sided HGV’s are more at risk of turning over no matter how heavy they are in high winds and fortunately in this case no one was injured.

Elsewhere we have seen live footage from Manchester Airport of aircraft trying to land with some having no options but to go around for a second attempt, all aircraft managed to land safely.
