The BBC is to switch off some SD (Standard definition) channels from 8 January 2024 it means those without freeview or a set top box will need to upgrade to get the channels in HD.
The SD channels that will be closing are as follows:
- BBC One SD
- BBC Two SD
- BBC Three SD
- BBC Four SD
- CBBC SD
- CBeebies SD
- BBC News SD
- BBC Scotland SD
- BBC ALBA SD
- BBC Parliament SD
Some people still receive standard definition TV signals and it is believed older style televisions are still in operation which will not get any HD quality channels, in this case if they want to continue watching the above channels they will have to upgrade.
We suggest buying a HD ready or better still a 4K television which will come with applications like Netflix, Prime, Now TV and many more, in the January sales you will be able to get a good HD television for no more than £200 in some cases you might be able to get one for £150 if you look around.
Standard Definition is now long out-dated and looks blury to those who are used to High Definition which is far superior and that includes the sound, better on your eyes and ears!
