The actor David Soul has died at the age of 80, he will be best remembered for his role as Detective Hutchinson in the series Starsky and Hutch.
His real name was David Richard Solberg and was born in Chicago in the US.
Soul has had a good career in front of the camera making many series for the silver screen, he also starred alongside James Mason in the film Salem’s Lot, he also starred in a TV movie which was based on a true story about the 1986 FBI Murders in Miami.
He moved to the UK and appeared on the stage in London and had appearances on Little Britain, and Agatha Christies death on the Nile, he also appeared on Top gear.
Soul was also political helping an Independent in 1997 and 2001 General Elections which both failed.
His last appearance in a film was in 2013 called Filth and his last appearance in a TV show was in 2012 and that was called Lewis.
Soul was also a musician making many songs and appearing on compilation albums.
His wife said on social media: “My beloved husband, father, grandfather and brother—died yesterday after a valiant battle for life in the loving company of family. He shared many extraordinary gifts in the world as actor, singer, storyteller, creative artist and dear friend. His smile, laughter and passion for life will be remembered by the many whose lives he has touched.”
It is reported that in recent times he had been suffering from cancer and chronic obstructive pulmonary disease although its not known what he actually died from.
David Soul died yesterday 4 January 2024 at the age of 80.
