Vodafone is the first network in Trafford to switch off most of its 3G services leaving some customers with 2G/4G and 5G services, other networks are also in the process of switching of 3G.

Looking on the coverage maps Three-UK and EE are in a race to switch off 3G and O2 following, networks though have until the end of this year to completely switch off 3G.

They are doing this to give 5G more spectrum which will see download speeds increase, the issues are not all areas of Trafford get a good 4G signal or a 5G service leaving mobile phone users potentially with a 2G service which is not good enough for the handsets we have today.

In many parts of Trafford EE has a very weak 4G signal inside and no signal on 5G, on Three the coverage maps are saying a good service in areas where its only good outside and even then its unreliable, for these customers it could be a nightmare as even the 5G signal is patchy.

O2 are playing catch up with their 5G signal and has dreadful internet speeds on the 4G service which the signal can also be patchy in some places.

All the networks should ensure they have a good 4G signal and act upon complaints from customers where issues are, some things can stop a signal such as where you are located and even the walls of your home if this is the case their is nothing a network can do so it might be a good idea now to check if you have a good signal at the very least on 4G on all the networks, you can often get free sims on a network’s website page under Pay and go.

For some people they will be left with 2G services which is not good enough, we wonder then how many people will switch?
