A man from Trafford will be running in the Manchester Marathon 2024 with a benign brain tumour for charity.

Greig Frankland first started to experience issues from 2018 where he started experiencing dizziness and balance issues and severe fatigue.

After a holiday he decided to go to his GP who thought it was an ear infection, after a few months things continued and went back to his GP who then sent him to Audiology who also said it was an ear infection.

Greig was then sent to hospital for a MRI scan which confirmed he had acoustic neuroma a type of benign brain tumour which was located on one of the nerves between the left ear and the brain.

Whilst he is able to tun his 6th Manchester Marathon he is still being regularly checked over to see how the tumour is developing which he was told that if it did grow he will likely go deaf in one ear and cause other serious issues that will impact his health.

Greig feels inspired when he runs these big events and in training, with help from other runners from his club ‘Dragons Running Club’ in Sale who have been very supportive and will also be competing in the Marathon which gives him confidence to run, others will also be cheering on during the race.

Greig is running for a charity called British Acoustic Neuroma Association (BANA) which provides support to those with this type of tumour.

BANA gives more support as well as research into this type of tumour and you can donate with the links below to this much important charity.
