The time had come and 32.000 runners from Elite to newbies lined up in waves to start the Manchester Marathon 2024.

With the weather being better than of late it was the perfect day for the runners with the wheel chair athletes going first then the Elite Men.
Tracking the elite men’s race on the Manchester Marathon YouTube page live they looked like they were jogging for the first few miles, the pace soon got going and the result in the end was a win for Adam Clarke from Aldershot and Farnham & District club winning in 2 hours, 16 minutes and 29 seconds.
Second was Marshall Smith from Ashford AC in a time of just over 2 hours, 18 minutes and 22 seconds and just behind in third place went to Alexander Teuten from Southampton AC in a respectable 2 hours 18 minuets and 37 seconds.
Salford Harriers David Barratt came fourth with a time of 2 hours, 19 minutes and 33 seconds.
After the Elite men had been and gone the huge amount of spectators saw the huge amount of runners of different standards some at half way point clearly feeling tired.
This was one of the best marathons for a long time and as ever the spectators came out and cheered on the runners.
We saw several charity runners mostly at the back doing some amazing work for the chosen charity many dressed up including a centipede and flower pot men, even Ronald McDonald who gave us a wave.
A runner with a medical condition Greig Frankland from Trafford completed his race with a PB coming across the finish line in a time of 3h 54 minutes and 42 seconds which is outstanding.
If you want to run again or fancy taking part in one of the best marathons in the UK you can do so by clicking here but hurry as limited spaces are left according to Manchester Marathon organisers.
Finally and I am sure all the 32,000 runners taking part in the 2024 marathon will thank all those that came out and cheered them on, and to the organisers and medical staff who did a huge job keeping everyone safe during the event.
