A five-year-old girl has been attacked by a dog in Partington, from the police statement it seems the girl knew the dog.

A police spokesperson said:

“At around 3.40pm on Sunday 14 April 2024, Police officers responded to reports of a dog attacking a five-year-old girl inside a property on Walnut Road, Partington.

The girl suffered serious life-changing injuries which were not life-threatening, she remains in hospital.

A man aged 28 and a woman aged 34 have been arrested on suspicion of allowing a dog to be dangerously out of control in any place.  The man has additionally been arrested on suspicion of child neglect. The woman has since been bailed.

Due to previous police contact regarding the dog, a referral has been made to the IOPC.”

We have information suggesting the dog was an XL Bully although police have not confirmed the breed of the dog.
