This Sunday Trafford MV Ladies XV play their final game of the season away at Leigh Ladies with a 2.00pm kick off.
Having won 11 of their 13 games played to date and with only 2 defeats the women are in a strong position for pipping Liverpool St Helens 2nd XV for the title.
LSH are just a single point ahead of Trafford but have played all their fixtures already, a win for Trafford would see them finish the season as League winners, replicating their male counterparts at the club.
The season has been a good one for Trafford Ladies/Girls Rugby with success on the field for the Senior team and ever increasing numbers within the girls section which is very promising going forward.
Huge appreciation goes out to all the coaches and support teams that keep pushing and encouraging the players to reach new heights.
The players themselves deserve recognition for the dedication to training and getting teams out for every game and growing the numbers through the season. It has been very exciting seeing several of our young players getting recognition within the County player pathways with Lancashire and Cheshire.
The Club also thanks the sponsors of Women/Girls Rugby within the Club for their unwavering support through the season and we hope to see further backing coming through in future seasons to maintain the development within the female section.
Women’s Rugby is getting great coverage currently with the Women’s 6 Nations Tournament in full flow and being shown on the major sporting channels. In 2025 the Women’s Rugby World Cup will be hosted in England with several games being played at the Sale Sharks stadium in Salford.
Trafford MV Womens Rugby are keen to engage with players and schools in the area that may be interested in getting involved with playing /coaching or refereeing women’s/girls rugby.
The club has rugby for all ages from 3 years old (mixed mini rugby) through to Under 12’s (girls rugby) which then takes girls through their teenage years developing rugby skills and confidence. Once the girls are old enough they will then train and engage with the senior women’s team. The Club has good links with the player pathways for girls within Lancashire and Cheshire county rugby as well as Sale Sharks Women.
