A major power cut at Manchester Airport caused chaos during this morning (23 June) with many flights cancelled or diverted.
The power cut affected Terminal 1 and Terminal 2 mostly with T3 continuing some flights outbound.
Power was resumed just after 10am however flights had already been cancelled or diverted and passengers due to travel today have been asked to contact your airline.
Things are getting back to normal with flights that have not been cancelled taking off and flights coming into Manchester no longer being diverted.
Live YouTube channel Think Planes congratulated Manchester Air Traffic Control and staff at the airport for doing all they can to help passengers.
A spokesperson for Manchester Airport said: “Manchester Airport was affected by a major power cut in the area earlier this morning this has caused widespread disruption and a significant number of flights particularly from Terminal 1 and 2 are expected to be delayed or cancelled.
Passengers due to travel from Terminals 1 and 2 today are advised to contact their airlines for up to date information before coming to the airport.
Passengers due to fly from terminal 3 should come to the airport as normal unless advised otherwise by their airline but could be affected by delays.
We apologise for any inconvenience and aim to restore normal service as soon as possible.”
At the current time of publishing 136 aircraft are delayed and 2 inbound aircraft have been cancelled
