Whilst Trafford has gone through a huge programme of resurfacing and pothole filling in 2023, many parts of the borough are still having issues.
Bucklow Avenue in Partington has been fully resurfaced and a section of road on Moss Lane junction with Cross Lane East, some of the road humps have also been resurfaced,
Sinderland Lane has seen some big resurfacing done in the last couple of years however problems still exist some of which are incredibly dangerous for cyclists.
Here is a list of roads that have or are due to be resurfaced or treated: https://www.trafford.gov.uk/residents/transport-and-streets/roads-highways-and-pavements/Planned-works/Highways-capital-programme.aspx
The council has secured just over £360k for 24/25 year to make our roads safer, clearly though more is needed to fix our crumbling roads and to look at the criteria again as some surfaces that do not meet it is actually dangerous.
We question also if One Trafford understands that a road bike has a very narrow profile to be as aerodynamic as possible which means the width of a tyre is often between 23 and 25mm, on some roads its incredibly dangerous to cycle on, this is surely putting a road user at risk.
With the amount of flats and houses going up in the borough this will come with it many more cars and vans which will rip up road surfaces much faster and rip apart roads that have been neglected for so long.
If you see a road with a huge pothole or uneven or damaged surface you must report it which you can do here with some information on what the council won’t touch: https://www.trafford.gov.uk/residents/transport-and-streets/roads-highways-and-pavements/potholes.aspx
