The Met Office has issued a weather warning ahead of Storm Lilian which will bring strong winds and heavy rain for Manchester and the North West overnight and into Friday morning.

Weather experts predict winds of over 70mph (Miles Per Hour) in exposed places but widely gusts will be between 50 and 60mph, the rain will be very heavy and prolonged leading to localised flooding in some areas.

You are advised to secure bins, trampolines and other things in the garden and in the event of unlikely power cuts you would be best to charge up your devices now.

The highest winds are expected to be felt on the motorways during Friday Morning on the major motorways where Met Office are saying winds could reach 80mph, high sided HGV’s need to take the necessary precautions on all routes until the storm passes.

Disruption to some or all flights to and from Manchester Airport are expected for a time which will lead to delays and cancellations, if you’re flight is affected you are asked to contact the airline for further information.

The storm will pass through leaving a nice day tomorrow in Manchester with long periods of sunshine and through into early evening.
