Smokers must be feeling bad right now after being banned from smoking inside pubs and just about everywhere else it looks like they will now be banned from outside.
Although the exact details have yet to be published by the government we know that people will not be allowed to smoke outside pubs and other establishments soon.
Lets look at the facts as to why the government are trying to help you quit smoking:
- Smoking is the cause of 80,000+ deaths a year in the UK
- Lung Cancer is primarily the cause of death although it can cause other cancers.
- Nicotine is what addicts people this has been found to be the worlds third most addictive drug.
- Smoking for a while can also cause a range of other health issues such as bad oral health which can lead to heart conditions.
- Lots of chemicals are added to a cigarette that are highly toxic to the body.
- Second hand smoke is also a killer.
A range of things have been in existence for a while now even medication you get from your doctor to ease cravings for the nicotine.
Vaping is another way to get your fix of nicotine although in a smaller dosage, vapes do not have all the toxic chemicals as a cigarette however more studies are needed on what harm even these things do, vaping is sucking up hot liquid and the steam going into your lungs could also do damage.
Vaping has been restricted and expect this to be further restricted once more information is known about its health effects, however for now people can choose this alternative method which is not affected by the outdoors ban.
Smoking is contentious, and some people will find all what is going on hard to understand since adults should have the decision themselves and we agree fully, however you will understand that too many people are dying and its costing the NHS millions and going forward this is not good.
The tobacco companies will also have some say in the decisions the government takes since all they care about is the profits it makes every year on harming the public, what do they care!
If smoking does get fully banned in 2030 many jobs will be lost, and the money from taxation will needed to be replaced since every government make so much money from smoking it will be hard to recoup that back every year.
Money or your life is the game all governments play on the public every day, every month and every year with smoking and other things! maybe its time for a change and get down to your GP and ask about quitting, you will be glad you did, either way it’s your choice!
