Finally the residents of Partington and those that go down Covershaw Lane can feel a little happier today as the sinkhole saga looks to be at an end.

The sinkhole which was not bigger than a size 13 basketball boot opened up a day before the Trafford 10k 2024 despite this the race went ahead as planned and cars were still allowed to go past the now sectioned off sinkhole.

A month later the road was closed due to some further defects in the road around the sinkhole, the sinkhole was now one huge big hole due to workmen doing work on it, nothing was done after this at all that we could see.

Things only last week got worse as the date for the reopening of the road was put back another month on Google Maps! however having checked in recent days we can confirm the hole has been filled up with probably a mixture of dirt and sand with a topping of huge stones that will be crushed up and the road resurfaced.

Crash barriers in several parts of Covershaw Lane have been replaced and one needs replacing behind the now filled up sinkhole which might see a further delay in reopening the road.

This has been a big issue for residents of Partington having to go down the 247 Moss Lane bus route if they wanted to go through to Altrincham and other places costing more time and money for what was a very small sinkhole that should have been fixed soon after it opened up.
