A Police chase in the Old Trafford area during the early hours of 16 September 2024 end up with the stolen car they was chasing crashing and destroying a wall.
The driver (A man in his 30’s) of the stolen vehicle crashed on Upper Chorlton Road close to the junction with Seymour Grove, the individual was arrested at the scene after the short pursuit and has been charged on suspicion of the theft of the vehicle and dangerous driving and remains in custody for questioning.
The 86 stagecoach bus service was diverted during the morning as part of the road was closed for a while, this has now been reopened.
A GMP spokesperson said: “At around 2am this morning (Monday 16 September 2024) we were called to reports of a vehicle being stolen in south Manchester.
“The car made off from police patrols and after a brief pursuit collided with a wall on Upper Chorlton Road.
“A man in his 30s was arrested on suspicion of theft of motor vehicle and dangerous driving. He remains in police custody for questioning.
“No injuries have been recorded and in line with normal procedure, referrals have been made to GMP’s Professional Standards Directorate.”
