A speed ramp has suddenly been installed on a link road in Sale and is the talk of the town but nobody knows who owns it, the link road is left of Langdale Road and positioned near the chippy.
This type of speed ramp can be bought from Amazon and other places and will have cost around £250/300 and is designed to keep speeds down to around 5mph.
The problem is with this ramp is its height, although we have no information regarding its height on closer inspection this is too high and clearly in the wrong position to have any impact on speed.
if another one was bought further down near the end of the link road before it meets the A56 at the right height that would make sense, at the time of publishing only one can be seen.
Whoever installed it would have needed to contact Trafford Highways since if it was a business they do not fully own the link roads both South bound and North bound.
A report has been made due to its location and more importantly the height.
During the evenings it is very hard to notice the height of this ramp although clearly visible and any cyclist more so a road cyclist who could easily misjudge the ramp will crash, mountain bikes would do better but will need to take care.
We have seen a small gap nearest the chippy but cyclists will not see that, on the side of the road a bigger gap is seen however cars are always parked next to it! the pavement when no cars are around on that side is in a bad way.
Whilst we agree with any road calming measures they have to be safe and this one is not, all those affected must contact your local councillor or email Trafford Council Highways.
