Manchester United have today (28 October 2024) sacked manager Erik Ten Hag after a poor start to the new season that has seen the red devils drop to 14th place in the Premier League.

Despite Ten Hag winning two domestic cup competitions the team could only finish 8th in 2023/24 season and a poor start to the new season and the usual excuses in press conferences meant the former manager was hanging on to his job by a thread.

Yesterday’s loss at West Ham was the final straw for Manchester United who told Ten Hag he was no longer Manchester United manager and as a result Ruud Van Nistelrooy will take over until a permanent manager can be found.

United’s next games are the League cup on Wednesday against Leicester City and Chelsea on Sunday where it is hoped United can get back to winning ways.

A statement on the Manchester United website said: “We are grateful to Erik for everything he has done during his time with us and wish him well for the future.

Ruud van Nistelrooy will take charge of the team as interim head coach, supported by the current coaching team, whilst a permanent head coach is recruited.”
