Police were called to a house on Avocet Road in Broadheath today (2 November) after they found bomb shells during a property clear out which has meant an evacuation for some residents.

Currently all houses from Sinderland Road to Widgeon Road and Dairyhouse Lane has been closed off, Barlow Road is still open as we publish this article.

The bomb squad has been called to test the bombs if they are viable, it is not expected any further people will need to be evacuated at this time, we have though seen video of ambulances on standby in nearby Bramley Farm car park.

A GMP spokesperson said: “Shortly after midday today (2 November), officers were called to reports of suspicious items found during a property clearance on Avocet Drive, Altrincham.

EOD are en-route to assess the items, and a precautionary cordon has been put in place.”
