Trafford MV went into this key league game full of hope and with a desperate need to pick up league points to ease the pressure near the foot of the table.

The team was shuffled and new players introduced to the mix as coach Brian Collier pushes his squad of players for commitment and concentration.

Trafford MV welcomed Aspull to MacPherson Park and the teams fought out a very well contested first half with the visitors taking a 14-19 lead into the interval.

MV worked hard for their 2 converted tries from Josh Salmon on the wing and from hooker Craig Collier from a driving maul, both were converted by stand-off half Ben Wainwright.

The second half proved too much for Trafford however as Aspull eased away for what was in the end a comfortable win.

Trafford contributed a further 2 tries as debutant Zain Henery broke through to score from centre and mighty Joe Cooper powered his way through the defence from close range.

The final score of 24-46 was a disappointing one for Collier and his squad of players but it emphasises where they are as a team at the moment.

Chris Ward collected the player of the match award for TMV. The team now have a week off to address issues on the training paddock and then have their biggest game of the season to date as they travel to face bottom placed Glossop on Nov 30th – which will not be an easy game.

Trafford MV were pleased to welcome Sam Wilson back from injury and also the introduction of centre Zain Henery and powerhouse prop Byron Marx into the fray as the fight for league points continue.

Trafford MV’s other teams on the day also had a bad day at the office as the 2nd XV slipped off the top of their table beaten by Wigan 10-24 with a try for Laurence Ryan converted by Luke O’Shea who also added a penalty.

Player of the match was Connor Ryan. Traffords 3rd XV also fell short of the mark losing away at Oldham 50-24 the team scored 4 tries in the game and Nico Pickard was player of the match.

This coming weekend TMV 2nds travel locally to play Altrincham Kersal 2nds while the 3rd XV will face Littleborough 3rds at MacPherson Park M33 6LR. Kick off are at 2.15pm
