As the big freeze bites hard sporting fixtures across the borough will be decimated hitting clubs with a big loss in takings and activities being cancelled.

Trafford MV’s Senior teams fixtures pencilled in for Saturday have all been postponed until a future date to be set as the frozen ground has made play impossible.

The home game against Leigh and away fixtures at Tarleton and Broughton Park were all called off on Friday afternoon as another nights sub zero temperatures began to bite once again.

Pitches have been covered in a crisp coating of snow for days and below that the ground is rock hard. With travel of players and spectators also an issue the call wad made by all clubs involved with safety in mind.

With a big thaw expected in the coming week we will anticipate that games will go ahead with Trafford MV 1st XV welcoming Wilmslow to MacPherson Park and the TMV Ladies heading to the North East to face Peterlee and Horden Ladies. The men’s 2nd XV will travel to Warrington while the 3rd XV fixture is yet to be confirmed.

Trafford MV invites local residents to come and enjoy a Saturday afternoon at the Club either watching live sport being played or televised sport being shown in the Clubhouse. Local sport is an affordable way of being a spectator and being a part of a local community.
