Two men from the Trafford area arrested on suspicion of domestic abuse

Two men from Trafford have been arrested after being suspected of domestic abuse.

A 28-year-old man was arrested in Old Trafford, under the public order act, after reports he had visited the address of a woman shouting obscenities and causing distress.

Another man, aged 35, from the Sale area, was also arrested on suspicion of stalking, after it was reported that a woman was receiving more than 50 calls a day from a man, who had also been turning up at the homes of her and her family members.

Both men remain in custody at this time.

In the last year, Police arrested over 20k individuals on suspicion of domestic abuse offences across Greater Manchester, and our commitment to tackling the issue and protecting victims continues.

Detective Chief Inspector Suzanne Keenaghan, vulnerability lead for Trafford, said; “Domestic abuse can often feel unescapable for victims. There are so many facets to this behaviour, which go beyond physical abuse which is what people typically think of when they hear the words domestic abuse. 

“Taking action against those we believe to be committing offences against their partners, ex-partners, friends, or family members is daily business for us, to ensure we are keeping those suffering safe.

“I would encourage anyone who is being abused, whether that be physically, emotionally, psychologically, or otherwise, to come forward and speak to us, or seek support from one of our partners. You are not alone, and we are ready to help you.”
