Trafford Council have re-submitted an application to develop over 80 homes on the former Trafford Magistrates Court site which they say 25% will be affordable.

This means at 80 homes only 20 will be affordable, if we look in the Partington area the huge housing developments 74 affordable houses will be given at Heath Farm Lane, and 119 at Millbank behind Lock Lane, and we have read 84 if the Redrow housing development as approved at both sides of Warburton Lane.

This is not enough to help the people of Trafford, we are aware people have been waiting on the Trafford Housing Register for more than a decade with many people including children living out of shoe boxes waiting for accomodation.

What this borough needs is mostly social housing and it seems for every bit of brownfield sites left in Trafford it all mostly goes to private housing.

With next to no brownfield land left we fear for the green belt, once this has gone we won’t get it back, the biggest test then will be with the Redrow developnent just out of Partington where 580 homes could be built all on the green belt.

Many houses if approved will go on historical ground behind the Oak Road, this is unacceptable.

Whilst this time around due to a change of government it will likely be approved, this would be the start of more housing chewing up the green belt around Partington and Warburton.

We don’t want the green belt damaged and people of this borough need to fight hard to protect all of it not just for use today but for the future.

With the housing developments also comes with it yet more cars and vans, which will make things even worse with pollution, more resources will be drained further putting vital services in danger of coming to an end.

Already we are seeing more people dying to due pollution, it is very difficult to see a GP, Police are stretched and so are the fire service, every winter the NHS are under severe pressure, more people means no ambulance will come at all if something bad happens.

So whilst Trafford goes crazy for housing they have to make sure our green belt and all the wildlife are not impacted, that they make sure existing and new residents are not also impacted so they still have a GP, school places and proper monitoring of our disgusting air! the same as what every councillor and family has to breathe every day!
