Manchester United and Scotland legend Denis Law has sadly died aged 84.
Denis had a long and great footballing career and was loved by many fans around the country but more so at Manchester United where he played 404 games for the club.
He started his career at Huddersfield Town from 1956 to 1960 he then found himself playing one season with Manchester City from 1960/61 then on to Torino the next season, Denis spent the biggest part of his career at Manchester United from 1962 to 1973 and returning back to Man City for another year before hanging up his boots.
Law also played for his country where he gained 55 caps for Scotland scoring 30 goals, He made his debut against Wales in 1958.
Off the field he worked for radio and TV, Law got a CBE (Commander of the Order of the British Empire) in 2016
Law was much more than just a legend centre forward football player, he has a charity ‘The Denis Law Charity Trust’ The charity aims to reduce instances of youth crime and anti-social behaviour.
Denis was diagnosed with Alzheimer’s and Vascular Dementia.
A statement from the family of Denis Law said:
“It is with a heavy heart that we tell you our father Denis Law has sadly passed away. He fought a tough battle but finally he is now at peace.
“We would like to thank everyone who contributed to his wellbeing and care, past and much more recently.
“We know how much people supported and loved him and that love was always appreciated and made the difference. Thank you.”
