There is no game for Trafford MV 1st XV this weekend following their good performance against Wilmslow last Saturday however a great game for Trafford MV 3rd XV is on the cards for the weekend.
The focus therefore falls on the 2nd XV who make the short hop around the M60 past the Trafford Centre to Eccles to face their 3rd XV.
This part of the season is crucial for getting good availability each week as fixtures begin to come frequently as catch up games fall into the fixture list. Head Coach Brian Collier is looking for an upsurge in training numbers and would welcome selection pressures coming his way as player pressure comes into play.
The 2nd XV currently hold 4th place after 12 games with Wigan 1st, Warrington 2nd and Eccles 3rd level on 47 points with TMV – Glossop are just a single point behind in 5th place – so plenty to play for. Get your training boots on and stake a claim for your place in the team.
The 3rd XV have the pleasure of playing at home this Saturday and have a local derby match as their fixture is against Carrington 1st XV. It is expected there will be a good local following on the touchline so come on down and support the teams playing.
Carrington are currently bottom of the 11 teams competing in the Division 5 East of HALBRO North West Leagues although they have games in hand.
Trafford are just above them in 10th place wins are crucial for both these teams as they seek to climb places and make their presence felt among local rugby clubs. Both Clubs are keen to attract new players to play Social Rugby on Saturday afternoons. Contact wilfdooley@virginmedia.com if interested in playing.
Sunday will see our Ladies XV get back on the horse following a long and arduous trip to the North East last weekend which saw the Ladies on the wrong end of a 63-5 score line. The coaching team and players will be looking for better fortunes this week as they head North once again.
Travel does no favours in this Women’s NC 1 North League and a long trip once again will take them to Keswick in Cumbria.
The Cumbrians are currently in 5th place with 3 wins from 7 games 17pts while Trafford are just above them in 4th place with 4 wins from 7 and 20pts in the bag. Trafford will be looking for a win to put pressure on Peterlee and Horden Ladies who are just a single point ahead of them in 3rd place.
If you are not playing Rugby for whatever reason on Saturdays Trafford MV would really like to hear from you as we seek to keep social rugby alive and well in South Manchester.
Just find us on Facebook or check out our website. Alternatively just come on down to a home fixture and make your interest known at the bar and you will be pointed in the right direction. We look forward to meeting you !
