It’s a busy weekend for Trafford MV as we look to field 3 teams on the opening weekend of the Six Nations Championship.

The 1st XV take to the road as they prepare to take on league leaders  West Park (St Helens). West Park will be firm favourites having lost only 1 game of the 15 played so far this season.

Trafford MV will be looking to secure their 6th win of the season or at the least bring a league point home. Back in October TMV battled out a competitive 17-39 home defeat with late scores flattering the winning side. Confidence has improved since then but poor player availability still hampers the teams progress and ambitions.

The 2nd XV take pride of place at home and will look forward to playing Eccles on the senior home pitch which is in excellent condition.

TMV will be looking to add to their Cup quarter final win over the same opposition last weekend but Eccles will be pressing their claim for league points. The teams are level on points, both with 8 wins under their belts and Eccles just pipping MV for 3rd position.

A good win for either side would put pressure on Warrington who are also level on 47 points ! Trafford won their away game at Eccles back in October 12-18.

The 3rd XV will make their way around the M60 to face 2nd in the league East Manchester 1st XV. There is a great disparity in the number of games played in the 3rd XV league with teams playing between 7 and 13 games !

Trafford MV are inviting local residents interested in Rugby Union to join them in the Clubhouse at M33 6LR to watch the Six Nations games on the big screens with a bar and friendly atmosphere to enjoy.

The opening game France vs Wales will show on Friday evening (31st) from 7.30pm and on Saturday (1st) Scotland vs Italy 2.15pm and Ireland vs England 4.45pm will be showing.

This is a time of year when Rugby Unions profile is at a premium and we would encourage all local Rugby fans to visit their local Rugby Union and give the sport a boost in our local area. New players are always invited to join in the action at Trafford MV using it’s great facilities.
