Now Covid has been and gone and the ‘Seasonal’ flu reaches its peak the world is becoming a more dangerous place where viruses are concerned.

We all have heard of Bird Flu as its been around for a while, however the UK has seen an increase in birds of all kinds catch the virus with one person becoming unwell although fortunately the individual was sectioned off so he couldn’t spread the virus to others.

It has the ability now to cross over to humans so those responsible for public safety have secured farms and other places where bird flu cases have been reported.

You may think this is only for farm chickens and turkeys but you would be wrong as already 21 wild birds have been found with Bird Flu, things could get worse for wild birds and the general public who feed them on canals and rivers.

According to the latest data we have seen no reports of dead or unwell birds have been reported in Greater Manchester, however other areas have which include two in Lancashire, three in North Yorkshire two in Norfolk and one in Devon, many of the wild birds found either dead or unwell who had Bird Flu was in Scotland.

Some of these are birds of prey, Swans, Canadian Geese, even a Barn Owl! on the Bridgewater Canal that goes through Trafford there are many Geese and ducks, lots of black headed gulls how many will be unwell?

Although as stated no wild birds have been reported in Greater Manchester as having Bird Flu it is still important to stay vigilant and not come too close to any wild bird for your own safety.

Throwing the right food to them will be fine however back away if they come out until the all clear is given by the government.
