This Saturday is a huge day in Trafford MV’s Rugby calendar as they travel to Heaton Moor in a battle between two sides that are dangerously close to the relegation zone with only 5 games left to play.
With Glossop seemingly already relegated following a hefty points deduction imposed there is only league points covering the next four teams looking to avoid the second relegation place. With possible league reorganisation there could potentially be a 3rd club ear marked for relegation so each and every league point is invaluable.
Trafford MV have a number of changes once again and are pleased to have eight home grown players in their team.
The front row see’s in form James Webster and experienced Jack Gobbett at prop either side of youngster James Halsall at hooker covering for Craig Collier who has an eye injury.
The second row see’s stalwart Andrew Clegg joined by last weeks try scorer Kieran Edgar. Jimmy Craven keeps his place in the back row following recent good performances and on the other flank Chris Ward follows on from his try scoring appearance last week. Micah Dyos holds down the No 8 spot once again.
In the half backs team captain Pat Eccles returns at scrum half and Jordan Parker will be looking to make an impact on his return to the side at stand off.
Partnering up in the centres are the two Joe’s , Joe Walls and Joe Owens while outside of them on the wings last weeks debutant Adam Halsall keeps his grip on the position and Jamie Parker takes on the other wing position.
Luke O’Shea continues to develop his game from the full back position highlighting the quality of players coming through Trafford MV’s young player policy.
On the bench Trafford MV give opportunities to last weeks player of the match Richard Causer, utility player Lewis Kingdon and powerful paceman Jordan Rigg.
Head Coach Brian Collier will be looking for a strong performance from his team and a willingness to go all out to close the game off if the opportunity arises. A big crowd is expected at Heaton Moor with both Clubs having so much at stake.
Trafford MV 2nd XV will host Tyldesley at home while the 3rd XV are also at home against Old Bedians 1st XV. Players looking to get back into playing regularly should drop a message to wilfdooley@virginmedia.com expressing your interest. Training at the Club (M33 6LR) is on Tues and Thurs at 7.00pm for those interested in competing for 1st and 2nd XV rugby.
