Police appeal for information after a young girl was attacked by a dog in Sale

Police were called to reports of a young girl (aged 9) being attacked by a dog at around 6:40pm last night (Thursday 27 February) this happened on playing fields next to Ashtead Road and Clovercroft Road in Sale.

It’s believed that a large, black dog approached the young girl and attacked her. She was taken to hospital with serious injuries, that are believed to be life-changing.

Police are appealing to the public for information to assist with enquiries. 

If you was in the area yesterday evening and may have seen the incident, or have you seen a large black dog in the area? We are also keen to identify the owner of the dog, if you have any information, please come forward.

Additional officers have been deployed to the area to conduct searches and speak with the community. If you have any questions or concerns, please speak to them.
