Trafford MV Rugby faces a tough weekend as they field 2 teams this Saturday, both in crunch games in their respective seasons.
The clubs 1st XV welcome Aldwinians to MacPherson Park, M33 6LR with a firm focus on the need to collect winning league points from the fixture. Back in November Trafford lost out be the narrowest of margins 27-26 in the away fixture and now the team needs to make home advantage count in full.
Senior Coach Brian Collier is expected to name a strong team for the game having had no fixture last weekend and injured players rested. With just 4 league games left to play.
Trafford MV urgently need to climb away from their current place just above already relegated Glossop. With just a single point separating New Brighton, Aspull and TMV the job is far from over, good defence and a clinical attack could bring a much needed bonus point win which could have a huge impact on league standings.
Trafford MV’s 2nd XV have other worries to contend with, they are in the chase for a promotion place in their league, level on points with Eccles both behind league leaders Wigan who are currently unbeaten. Wigan are the host as Trafford take to the road in this top of the table clash.
An away win for TMV would be a huge upset for the leaders and would certainly make life interesting in the title chase. There are 6 games left to play in the 2nd XV league so plenty to play for between the top 3 sides.
On Sunday Trafford MV Ladies XV make the short journey to face Broughton Park looking to get their season back on track following a couple of recent defeats which has seen the team slip to 4th position. Trafford had the bragging rights back in September with a 22 – 10 home win – the players and coach Neil Fallon will be looking to repeat this feat away from home.
With the countdown on towards the end of the season and important games to be played Trafford MV are calling on their local support to get behind their teams and cheer them on to success.
The club are always looking to recruit new players to enjoy the excellent playing, changing and social facilities at Trafford MV with the ambition to field 3 teams once again next season.
