Trafford MV Rugby will look to take last weeks good form which saw a 24-22 win over Aldwinians into their away fixture at fellow strugglers Aspull on Saturday afternoon. Back in November Aspull took the honours in a flattering 24-46 win at MacPherson Park, will TMV be able to turn this around away from home?
Head Coach Brian Collier is confident his team has enough talent in their locker to continue their improved form through to the end of the season but he does need the backing of his players to prove his thoughts.
Good player availability and a short injury list will help give a strong team selection for this weekends game. Conditions should be ideal for players to perform at a high level and Trafford will be looking for a good forward momentum to give an improving back line the space to use in attack.
In addition to looking to collect league points themselves Trafford will be hoping Aldwinians bounce back from last weeks defeat and take the points in their game at Heaton Moor who sit just above TMV in the league providing the possibility of TMV moving up a place. But games need to be played and results earned in reality.
Traffords 2nd XV play in local derby action against Altrincham Kersal 2nd XV at MacPherson Park M33 6LR and will be hoping to take the bragging rights and keep their promotion challenge on track – spectators welcome to come and watch live sport free of charge. Also showing in the Clubhouse over the weekend will be all the 6 Nations Rugby games.
On Sunday Women’s rugby is on the menu at Trafford MV as the Ladies XV welcome Keswick Ladies for a 1.00pm kick off.
The Club would like to hear from any local ladies/girls that may be interested in finding out what rugby is all about – with the Women’s 6 Nations about to kick off later this month and the Women’s Rugby World Cup based in England later this year there will be a fabulous focus on the growth of the women’s game. If you know any females that may be interested just get them in touch with Trafford MV Women’s Rugby.
Trafford MV head coach Brian Collier is already looking ahead to the challenges that next season will throw at him and he is keen to hear from local players who feel they can contribute to his 1st XV squad and can challenge his current squad in a competition to make an impact in league rugby.
TMV has excellent on and off field facilities including an excellent 1st XV pitch, great changing and shower facilities, players gym and physio rooms plus a fabulous friendly Clubhouse for players and supporters. If you are interested in making an impact with Trafford MV Rugby contact wilfdooley@virginmedia.com and your interest will be followed up.
